The Luminor is defined by its crown-protecting bridge: a hinged lever with a spring that clamps the crown against the case and seals it. The action is definite — you feel the spring, and the lever locks. A decorative bridge that simply folds over is the commonest counterfeit failure and takes two seconds to find.
The case is a cushion, thick, machined from solid, with defined edges and cut lugs. It is heavy. The dial on many references is sandwich construction, giving the numerals visible depth at an angle.
Reference numbers are PAM-prefixed and specify the case size, dial layout, movement and whether the piece is a limited edition. Establishing the PAM first prevents reading a genuine watch against the wrong specification.
