The Boy takes its name and its shape from a squarer, harder-edged silhouette than the Classic, and its lock is a rectangular push-clasp rather than a turn-lock. That clasp is where the reads concentrate: it should engage with a definite click, sit perfectly flush, and carry crisp CHANEL lettering with no softness at the letter edges.
The chain alternates metal links with leather-threaded sections and is heavier than it looks. The Boy's hardware is often finished in ruthenium or an aged gold rather than bright plating, and those antiqued finishes are difficult to fake convincingly — counterfeits tend to read as either too shiny or as painted.
Quilting on the Boy is larger and flatter than the Classic's diamond quilt, and it still has to align across the seams. The edges of the bag are piped in leather and finished cleanly at the corners, where a counterfeit will show bulk or a visible joint.
